If you'd like even more focus, tools and support to make 2009 your best year ever....attend the Executive Women's  Foundation Retreat offered by Coaches Lynn Zettler and Jille Bartolome in Destin Florida, March 12-15, 2009.  Check www.lynnzettler.com for details.

For any of the guys who want help working on your Vision for Personal Success, I'd be happy to help you, just contact me and we can put a program together.

Share your Vision for your Personal Success (VPS) and forward this message to others!

Tell me what your VPS is, whether it's related to your career or any aspect of your life.  And be specific.  Tell me when this vision will be reality.  Post your VPS as a comment to this blog, so we can all find inspiration from each other.  There is no right or wrong way to do it or any right or wrong vision, as long as it is yours.  I'd love to check in with you throughout the year to see how you are doing and hold that vision for you!   Forward this to as many successful women and men you know.  We want to start a grass roots VPS Movement for 2009 and make it our best year ever.

~~~~Vision~~~~I see this growing as a grass roots effort and expanding to thousands!  Oprah is calling to do a spotlight show on the most successful and creative contributors to the VPS blog!
On a Personal Note
Christmas was wonderful.  The kids were home and I enjoyed having them here, although the house sure does get messy fast!  I've given up my expectations on that a loooonnnnngg time ago.
  • We had a unique Christmas this year with several 'firsts'.  For one, my husband did most of the Christmas shopping.  This was really great!  What freedom it was for me.  And he did a great job of it!
  • I did not bake as much.  I typically make about 8 kinds of cookies, buckeyes, etc. and give away tins as gifts.  I didn't hear anyone crying because they didn't receive my high caloric gift this year.  I made the buckeyes so my son would not be disappointed and called it good.
  • I did not wrap gifts this year.  Instead, I invested in inexpensive gift bags that can be re-used next year.  Most of our gifts were rather small in size, so this was not a problem.  Saved a lot on trash.
  • For the first time, I asked the kids to give me a list of
    three things they really wanted,
    three things that would be nice to have, and
    three things that they would 'dream' of having.
    It was interesting to see where their dreams were.  I'm sure Santa has put it on his long term list.
  • For the first time, we had our new son-in-law Jamie join us for Christmas.  It was very special and we are crazy about him.
  • We bought everyone one special gift and some cash.  I bought several Christmas ornaments that had some kind of opening or slot that would hold cash.  We put the cash in the ornament and taped a tag on it directing the recipient to share a memory of some kind.  We covered memories like your favorite childhood Christmas memory, your favorite sports memory, your favorite story about your best friend, a story about your sibling......it was great fun and we got to reminisce and learn more about each other.
Aaahhhh---it went too fast.  I'm sad it's over already.
If you do just one thing differently in 2009:
Give yourself the gift of one hour to yourself within the first few weeks of January.  You can find it.  Ask for help if you need to.  You deserve one hour.
Put yourself in a place of quiet and comfort where you can think and reflect.  Perhaps it’s a hot bath, with candles and music.  Perhaps it is sitting by a warm fire or at a window overlooking nature.  Perhaps it’s at your favorite park or beach (if you are blessed to live in a warm climate this time of year).  Whatever it is for you, create your space and your one hour timeframe for yourself.
During your one hour, reflect on your wellbeing.  What do you do for yourself that keeps you functioning at your peak?  Make sure these are things that you do for yourself, and not others.  What feeds you emotionally, intellectually, spiritually, physically?  What do you know has worked well for you in the past that you would like to keep doing or incorporate more of?
Choose 10 things that you can and want to do daily to keep you well.  Write them down.
Now you want to have this list available to you visually every day.  What is the best way for you to see them every day?  Everyone may be different, but here are a few ideas:
                        Tape the list on the bathroom mirror
                        Put the list on the refrigerator door
                        Tape the list to your cereal box
                        Tape the list on your computer monitor
                        Tape the list on the back of your Blackberry or cellphone
                        Send yourself an automated daily e-mail
                        Print off multiple copies and put a copy of the list in your lunch every day
                        Put a copy of the list in your wallet
                        Put a copy of the list in your workout bag
                        Put a copy of the list in your closet
                        Put a copy of the list on your TV
                  Put a copy of the list by your bed so it is the first thing you see when you wake up
The more focus you have on your 10 habits that keep you well, the more well you will be!  When you are well, you achieve more while doing less.  Try it.
